Tea Room

Enjoy a variety of quality teas, including fresh teas from our garden, along with a traditional English Luncheon or Afternoon Tea. Everything Gina makes has a little "Italian twist"---a little touch of her Italian cooking style--which makes everything that much tastier and uniquely different!

Born and raised in Italy, the daughter of a very poor family, there were three things in my life that made me feel alive and loved: Lots of people, music, and lots of food from the farm. Today, as I cook for you in my Tea Room, I recreate those things that brought so much love to my heart and share that "love" with you!

We are happy to offer our Garden "Oasis" with a running stream and waterfalls, Country Tea Room, and spacious Sitting Room overlooking the garden for your enjoyment and for the following Teas:

  • Luncheon or Afternoon Tea
  • Bridal & Baby Shower Tea
  • Birthday Tea
  • Event Tea--Mother's Day, Father's Day, Graduation, Christenings, Valentin'es Day, Retirement Parties, etc.
  • Children's Birthday Tea
WE ARE OPEN  7 DAYS A WEEK---RESERVATIONS REQUIRED
Payment Accepted: Cash only

About My Food
Because I care about Your Good Health, I use only locally grown fresh produce from the farm (Rutiz Farm in Arroyo Grande) and all natural or organic products.  All my food is homemade from scratch and I do not use anything that is pre-processed and in plastic bags, cans, or boxes.  I use real butter, whole milk, extra-virgin olive oil, heavy whipping cream, and I wash each individual leaf of lettuce one by one.

Because what the food is cooked in is as important as how it's grown,  I avoid baking my food in anything that is plastic coated or aluminum and use instead only cast iron, glass, or stainless steel.

WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY

To Those Who Love A Good Tea: Treat yourself to one of the greatest tea experiences and visit Abella Tea Room. Our Italian Tea Keeper, Gina, is a delight and a unique gift for the Tea Room Community. But Be Warned: Set no expectations; you cannot imagine the treat you are in for. Your mind cannot come up with or think this wonderful when it comes to your tastebuds. Gina gives you a twist on tea dining that is not to be forgotten. From her warm and sincere greeting when you enter her world - she has little nuggets of surprises waiting for you - through the courses of fine Italian tea dining - there is nothing like it. Her hospitality is precious - you won't want to leave. And there's the special perk! The Bed & Breakfast awaits you as well. If you've ever wanted to help with the dishes after a great meal because you're so thankful, here's your opportunity. How do you describe the gift of meeting someone for the first time and over several hours you develop such a bond you don't want to leave them? Gina calls that 'family.' And what a find that is today. - Kathy Casad 07/08/10

When I was on vacation in California I didn't think that going here would be worth my whole trip...but it was!!! There were so many teas to choose from, and my scone was absolutely amazing. I will always remember, Gina, the Italian Tea Keeper. She makes you feel like you're a part of her family as soon as you walk through the door. I also loved that she even lets you pick out your own teacup!  I pay attention to details like that. It was great sitting in her beautiful garden while enjoying a cup of tea. Can't wait to go back.

This tea experience was like no other! The food was delicious, the ambience charming and our hostess, Gina, was one in a million! Gina made us feel right at home from the minute we walked in the door. Her attention to detail and quality surpasses all. We would love to return for a garden tea and more of the divine rose sugar. This tea was very special. Thanks Gina.. Vivian and Marcy 06-16-10

After hearing such rave reviews from my own manager and tea room patrons, I had to check out Abella. My mom and I drove up and couldn't have asked for a better day or service. Gina was able to fit us in despite having to prepare for a party the next day, and boy am I glad she did!  She welcomes you right away with a big hug and first names. We chose to sit outside next to the waterfall and were in awe of the gardens in front of us.  I ordered a black Vanilla Bean tea and my mom had a herbal orange spice. It arrived hot and brewed perfectly, despite Gina insisting that she didn't follow traditional tea brewing methods. I tried her rose sugar and found I couldn't have a cup without it. Next, the scones (blueberry and cranberry) arrived with preserves (cherry and apricot), lemon curd, and cream. I used the cream and lemon curd but they really needed no embellishment. Next, our choice of sandwiches arrived. We had one each of the roasted red pepper, stilton with pear, and boursin cheese with apple on raisin bread. The presentation was artfully arranged and the sandwiches were delicious! I loved that the combinations were something a little different then what I had had before.
After a refill on my tea, we ended our afternoon with fruit (peaches, strawberries, and blueberries) topped with whipped cream and a cake that tasted like a apple crumble. The sweetness of the cake and the tartness of the fruit was perfect! Throughout the meal, Gina sat with us and talked as if we were old friends catching up. I am already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you Gina for making us feel like family! - Carrie 06/21/10

From the bottomless pot of perfectly steeped tea to a surprise dessert, we were continuously delighted by Gina's culinary talents. Afternoon Tea was created centuries ago to provide relaxation and a repast. This was no exception, complete with great conversation and fun, and joined into by our hostess. After over 4 hours, we departed vowing to return more frequently. God love you, Gina, we'll be back!

Great food, great time and good tea!
We had the best time, me and my ladies, celebrating my Birthday! The event was made even more special with Gina and her hospitality. I would recommend this tea room to everyone; the value for the money is unbeatable! Thanks again Gina for making my 31st very memorable! - Rachel Nightingale 04/26/10

WOW! Gina is the heart and soul of the Tea Room at Abella Garden Inn B&B. I hosted my daughter's baby shower at Abella and I was blown away by every aspect.... Gina provided a one-of-a-kind experience for this special occasion. Gina's teas are delicious and her scones and spreads are to die for. The food is yummy and plentiful but most of all Gina is one heck of a hostess and entertainer. She had us all in stiches. No one that attended will ever forget this tea party; best shower ever!  Love you Gina! - April 4/13/10

I planned a surprise birthday tea for my roommate and boy were we all surprised! The tea was delicious, the garden was gorgeous, the service was so warm and friendly. I would suggest the Abella Garden Tea Room to anyone looking for a birthday location, shower, weekend get away, or even a small wedding. The hostess, Gina, was so flexible with our size and even baked special treats for the birthday girl. All eleven of us girls wore adorable tea hats while we sipped our tea by the lovely waterfall. I love this place and hope to go back soon! - Samantha 04/02/10

This was delightful! Six of our ladies from Bakersfield traveled to the Tea Room at Abella Garden Inn B&B for our annual Valentine Tea. Gina is a wonderful hostess.  She had us dress the appropriate part with hats and furs that she supplied. We thought , "if she brings one more ounce of food we will die!" Everything was so good you couldn't pass it up. Our group would recommend the Abella Garden Tea Room to everyone. We want to return and have tea in the garden which is beautiful. - Judy Jones 02/10/10

We had a family tea luncheon at Gina's quaint bed and breakfast with 8 ladies. We had the place to ourselves and a lot of personal service and attention from Gina. Luckily, I read other people's reviews and realized that this would not be your traditional English tea party! Gina makes the experience unique with her saucy and bold personality, and she treats each guest like family the minute they walk in the door. We got to pick our own tea cups and old-fashioned hats to wear during the tea party, which made it more fun and silly. The mint leaf tea was excellent and made fresh with mint from her garden. It was by far the favorite tea at the table. We also enjoyed Gina's home-mixed sugars with fresh flavors added. The food was very tasty and more meal-like than the traditional sweets and sugary items you normally see at a tea party. The service was the most unconventional that I've ever experienced, and it can best be described as being treated with the familiarity of a family member. Overall it was an intriguing experience! - Jessie 01/28/10
